Black Friday is here, and Premium is now 40 percent off. This is our best price of the entire year, and the discount is already live across the site. You do not need a code. You do not need to enter anything. If you have been waiting for the right moment to upgrade, this is it.
PointsYeah runs thousands of award searches every month and helps travelers find seats in seconds instead of hours. Premium builds on that speed with more dates, more alerts, and more tools that help you catch award space earlier. Below is a full breakdown of what Premium includes and how each feature helps you plan smarter.
8-Day Award Search Window
Award availability moves fast. With Premium, you can search an entire 8-day window in one view. It gives you more chances to find seats without running single-day searches one by one.
If your city has multiple airports, you know how time consuming it can be to search each one. Premium allows you to search 2 departure and 2 arrival airports at the same time and reveal routes that usually stay hidden. It is one of the easiest ways to uncover better flight options.
365-Day Travel Radar
Travel Radar watches award space on your chosen routes for an entire year. Once it is set, it does the work in the background and notifies you when seats appear. This is perfect for long-haul trips, summer travel, and premium cabins.
Airlines change award pricing constantly. Premium lets you set up to 32 alerts that watch the flights you care about and notify you the moment seats open or prices drop. It is one of the simplest ways to get ahead of other travelers looking at the same routes.
15 Hotel Alerts
Some of the best hotels release points rooms at random times. Premium tracks up to 15 hotels at once and notifies you when a points room becomes available. It is ideal for trips where cash rates are high or availability is tight.
Black Friday Is the Best Time To Upgrade
Premium helps you find seats faster, track routes for the long term, and spot deals early. Every feature is built to save time and reveal options you would never see otherwise.
The Black Friday price is already active on your account.
If you hold the either American Express® Platinum Card, you already know it’s packed with travel perks. One of the best and most overlooked is the $600 Hotel Credit, split into two $300 statement credits each year. It applies to prepaid stays booked through Fine Hotels + Resorts® (FHR) or The Hotel Collection via Amex Travel.
It’s a great perk in theory, but in practice, finding the right hotels that fit your budget, destination, and travel style can be time-consuming, especially when most searches show ultra-luxury properties far above your $300 credit.
That’s why we built the PointsYeah FHR Filter. It’s a new way to explore the entire Amex FHR network, now searchable, filterable, and viewable in both map and list formats. Whether you’re trying to find a one-night stay fully covered by your credit or a luxury resort that’s worth a little extra, the FHR Filter makes it easy to plan smarter.
What Are Fine Hotels + Resorts® and The Hotel Collection?
Fine Hotels + Resorts® (FHR) and The Hotel Collection (THC) are Amex’s two premium hotel programs for Platinum and Centurion Card Members. Together, they include more than 2,000 top-tier properties worldwide that provide exclusive perks automatically applied when you book prepaid stays through Amex Travel.
Every FHR booking includes:
Daily breakfast for two
Guaranteed 4pm late checkout
Noon check-in when available
Room upgrades upon arrival (when available)
A $100 property experience credit, typically for dining or spa services
Earn hotel points and elite credit
The Hotel Collection bookings include:
Up to a $100 property credit per stay (varies by hotel)
Room upgrades upon arrival when available
A minimum two-night stay requirement
For many travelers, these perks can easily add $200–$400 of value to a single night, but only if you can find the right property to use them at. That’s where PointsYeah’s FHR Filter comes in. It gives you visibility across the full network, making it easy to see where your credit stretches the farthest.
Why PointsYeah Built the FHR Filter?
We created the FHR Filter because the Platinum Card’s best perks were often going unused. Travelers told us the same things over and over:
“I never know which hotels qualify.”
“I can’t tell which FHR stays are under $300.”
“I just want to use my credit without overspending.”
The FHR Filter solves all of that. It is a free tool that lets you see the entire FHR ecosystem at once, not just in a list buried inside Amex Travel. You can now explore globally, compare prices, and find hotels that align with your credit and comfort zone.
It’s for every kind of traveler:
Weekend explorers who want one-night getaways covered entirely by the $300 credit.
Luxury seekers looking for aspirational stays worth a modest top-up.
Frequent flyers who want to plan multi-city trips around their credits.
Before, planning around your hotel credit required patience. Now it’s simply a filter away.
How the PointsYeah FHR Filter Works
Using the FHR Filter is simple but powerful. Here’s how it works:
Search any destination in the PointsYeah Hotel Collection.
Turn on the “Fine Hotels + Resorts®” filter.
Instantly see verified Fine Hotels + Resorts® and The Hotel Collection properties across that city or region.
Choose your view:
Map View: Browse visually to see where hotels are located and explore surrounding attractions.
List View: Quickly compare prices, amenities, and brand details.
Refine your results by adjusting dates, price range, or destination preferences.
Use live pricing to find stays that make the most sense for your $300 semiannual credit.
What makes this different is flexibility. You are no longer limited to a static portal. You can visualize, compare, and plan your trip all in one seamless interface.
Finding Stays That Fit Your Credit and Your Budget
Luxury doesn’t have to mean overspending. For many Platinum Card Members, the ideal stay is one that fits within the $300 semiannual hotel credit or just slightly above it, whether you’re booking through Fine Hotels + Resorts® or The Hotel Collection.
Here’s how travelers are using it:
Fully covered stays: Filter for FHR properties under $300 per night. These are perfect for single-night getaways fully paid by your credit.
Sweet spot stays: Look in the $350–$450 range. Paying a small amount out of pocket can unlock much higher-end hotels.
Luxury upgrades: Combine both $300 credits for an extended stay or premium destination without blowing your budget.
To put it in perspective, here are a few examples of high-value FHR stays often found near or below the $300 mark:
The Ritz-Carlton, Bali – from $290/night
InterContinental Lisbon – from $190/night
The St. Regis Dubai, The Palm – from $232/night
InterContinental New York Times Square – from $234/night
Each property still includes the signature FHR perks such as breakfast, upgrades, and late checkout. Even a one-night stay feels like a complete getaway.
The best part is that you don’t need to guess. The filter helps you spot these hidden gems instantly, saving time while helping you get more from your Platinum benefits.
Why This Feature Matters for Platinum Card Members
Before this, using the FHR benefit felt complicated, not because the program lacked value but because it lacked accessibility. The Amex Travel interface wasn’t designed for discovery. It worked if you already knew where you wanted to go, but not if you were trying to decide how to use your credit wisely.
The PointsYeah FHR Filter changes that completely. It gives you the freedom to explore, experiment, and plan without committing to a booking. You can see the full picture first, then decide how to use your credit.
Here’s why it matters:
Transparency: You can see what’s available, what it costs, and how far your credit goes.
Flexibility: Map or list view means you can browse in whatever way feels most natural.
Efficiency: Save hours of searching by focusing only on eligible hotels.
Inspiration: Discover destinations and FHR stays you may have never considered.
This feature isn’t about promoting luxury. It’s about making it practical and usable for everyone who holds a Platinum Card.
The $600 Hotel Credit from the Amex Platinum Card is one of the most generous travel benefits available, but only if you actually use it.
With PointsYeah’s FHR Filter, that becomes effortless. You can find properties that fit your plans and budget, visualize your options on a map, and make smart choices about where to redeem your credits.
It’s not just a new search filter. It’s the missing link between knowing your benefits and actually using them.
Whether you are planning a one-night getaway, a spontaneous weekend trip, or a bucket-list vacation, the FHR Filter helps you see what’s possible, instantly.

I’ve been obsessed with miles and points for the past 25 years. At one point, I was an active member of more than 30 frequent flyer programs (now down to about 10) and even held top elite status in nine programs in a single year. Surprisingly, I was never a JetBlue member and had never even flown them.
The goal of this trip was not to maximize earnings or redemptions, nor to hope that JetBlue Mosaic status might someday convert to United Silver if they ever merge within the next 25 years. It was simply to visit some fun places, earn guaranteed miles, and have a good time.
Here are five things I did during the planning and preparation:
I grabbed the JetBlue Business Card with an 80,000-point bonus, enough to cover the second half of my trip. The bonus posts within 30 days after meeting the spending requirement and paying the annual fee, not based on the statement cycle.
Perks included:
10% miles back on redemptions
Group A boarding
Free checked bag
With those benefits, 5,000 anniversary miles, and an amazing airline (more on that later), I plan to keep the card long-term.
JetBlue’s route map is not always up to date with seasonal flights, so using PointsYeah Daydream Explorer saved me a lot of guesswork on where they actually fly.
I matched my Platinum Pro status to Mosaic 2 for the run, but the co-branded card is enough for me. The perks are generous enough to make the flight comfortable.

I split the trip into three parts so I could rest in between and wait for both the credit card bonus and the first 15-destination bonus to kick in.

I had never flown JetBlue before, so I didn’t know what to expect. After my Part I run, I have to say this is one of the best airlines I have ever flown
Seat pitch is wider than most airlines, 32–34 inches in standard economy. I didn’t even need an Even More Space seat to feel comfortable.
All seats have AC power, USB, and Type-C ports.
Free high-speed Wi-Fi with one-click access. I even had a video call with my team without any issues.
Four types of complimentary snacks.
I don’t usually get excited about airline cabins anymore, but JetBlue is an exception. Maybe it’s because the aircraft made it easy to work onboard and stay connected with my team, making weekday flights guilt-free. lol.
I’m really looking forward to Part II and Part III of the run.
One-Bedroom Suite – 17,500 Points Many Sonesta properties offer higher room categories at the same price. Sonesta and Bank of America have a co-branded credit card, though new applications are not being accepted right now.
1 King Bed – 45,000 Choice Points It was peak October weekend, with most rooms on the island costing $400 or more per night. I’ve had the Choice co-branded card for years, but you can also transfer from Citi at a 1:2 ratio, which is great value.
Nantucket
Faraway Hotel Nantucket
Not many point options here, so I used Airbnb instead with a 25% gift card I bought at Lowe’s. I also earned some Delta miles by booking through Airbnb. You can earn Avios too, but I prefer programs with flexible cancellation. It was pouring rain when I visited, so I’ll probably go back another time.
Standard Room – Category 4 Certificate This hotel moved to a higher category this year, but it’s still bookable with a Category 1–4 certificate, especially on weekends when rates are 18,000 points per night.
Standard Room – 15,000 Points (upgraded to a suite) This newly opened property is very close to JFK, but unfortunately, there’s no shuttle. It’s a great hotel, though I didn’t get to experience much of it since I arrived late and left early.
Two promotions triggered while staying there: 1. Casino: Earn 777 Hyatt points at casino hotels. 2. Hyatt Regency: Earn up to 20,000 Hyatt bonus points when booking through the app.
Standard Room – 5,000 Points The hotel was full, so I felt lucky to get a room. Haha! Part of the Hyatt Regency promotion and one of the few Category 1 Hyatts in the United States.
Junior Suite – 100,000 Hilton Points per night This was the best hotel of the first leg of the trip, and I think it’s one of the best boutique hotels in the country. Complimentary breakfast included lobster benedict and mimosas.
Deluxe Tent – 40,000 Hyatt Points, with 15% rebate promotion It was cold at night, and honestly, I preferred my $50 per night luxury tent in Senegal better, you can even walk with Lion there lol
Standard Room – 20,000 Points I still have some Best Western points and like them, but it would be better if they joined a transferable program someday.
Fun times on the road
I still had to work, so not much happened at PHL, ROC, or RDU, other than working from the hotels.
New York
Still working, but with a twist. It was the weekend Amex refreshed it’s new benefits on personal Platinum cards, so I stayed busy visiting several Resy restaurants, Lululemon, and Saks.
Credit card transfer bonuses are promotions that incentivize you to convert your bank points into airline miles and hotel points. These promotions can help you squeeze considerably more travel out of your credit card rewards.
You’ll typically receive between 15% and 40% more rewards than usual during a transfer bonus. For example, Capital One miles normally transfer to Avianca LifeMiles at a 1:1 ratio — but during a 20% transfer bonus, the conversion rate improves to 1:1.2. That means you’ll get 1,200 Avianca LifeMiles for every 1,000 Capital One miles you transfer.
You’ll likely see plenty of transfer bonuses for airline programs you’re not a member of or familiar with, but you might find some surprises. With a bit of algorithmic wizardry, PointsYeah will help you to use these promotions to save points on your upcoming flights.
How to spot credit card transfer bonuses
Credit card transfer bonuses come and go with little notice — and only a handful of airline and hotel loyalty programs are eligible for a bonus at any given time. This makes staying updated on current transfer bonuses a bit challenging for the average user.
The good thing for you is -> you’re a PointsYeah user.
There are two ways you can stay informed about valuable transfer bonuses with PointsYeah:
Bookmark this page. We keep the above chart updated just for you.
Search for flights through PointsYeah. The search result card will show you whenever there’s a transfer bonus and even calculate the number of points required, factoring in the bonus.
One final option is to check directly with the bank or airline’s website. Depending on who funds the promotion, the bank or the airline, is where you will find the information. If you don’t see the transfer bonus on your bank transfer portal, it is likely one you would see the T&C on the airline site, while still transferring through the bank portal.
Pretty simple, Yeah?
Credit card transfer bonuses are automatic. Just transfer your bank points to participating airline or hotel loyalty programs during a transfer bonus, and you’ll automatically get extra rewards.
Remember to bookmark this page to keep on top of current transfer bonuses. And if you want to learn more ways to stretch your points and miles, sign-up for the PointsYeah newsletter. More tips = more trips!
The loyalty world just got a big jolt. On August 20, 2025, Alaska Airlines officially rebranded Mileage Plan into Atmos Rewards. Hawaiian Airlines will join the program on October 1, 2025, bringing HawaiianMiles members into the fold.
If you’re an Alaska flyer, your account already shows Atmos branding. If you’re a Hawaiian flyer, your miles will convert 1:1 into Atmos Points this fall. No loss of value, no hidden catch. The biggest difference is the name on your balance, what used to be “miles” are now “points.”
Why does this matter? Because this isn’t just a rebrand. It’s the first time in years that a U.S. carrier has built an entirely new program instead of folding one into an existing system.
Why Atmos Rewards Exists
When Alaska and Hawaiian merged, they had a choice:
Absorb HawaiianMiles into Mileage Plan, or
Start fresh with something new.
They chose the second option. Atmos Rewards is designed to unify both airlines under one identity while making the program more flexible, and more competitive with American, Delta, and United.
For Alaska members, this feels more like an upgrade than a reset. You keep the strong partner network Mileage Plan already had, including oneworld.
For Hawaiian members, the change is dramatic. HawaiianMiles was a smaller program with limited partners and no global alliance access. Overnight, Hawaiian flyers get plugged into a network of 30+ partners and 1,000+ destinations worldwide.
Your Balances: Same Value, New Name
Here’s the simplest part of the change:
If you had 50,000 Alaska miles yesterday, you have 50,000 Atmos Points today.
If you had 50,000 HawaiianMiles, on October 1, you’ll see 50,000 Atmos Points in your account.
No games, no hidden devaluations. A straight 1:1 conversion.
The New Atmos Elite Tiers
Atmos Rewards introduces a four-tier structure:
Silver (20,000 status points) → oneworld Ruby
Gold (40,000 status points) → oneworld Sapphire
Platinum (75,000 status points) → oneworld Emerald
Titanium (100,000 status points) → oneworld Emerald
On the surface, these look almost identical to Mileage Plan’s MVP levels. But there’s a catch:
Thresholds are rising in 2026
Starting with 2027 qualification, two tiers get more expensive:
Platinum moves from 75K → 80K
Titanium moves from 100K → 135K
That’s a significant hike for top-tier elites. If you’re already chasing MVP Gold 75K, you’ll need to push further. Titanium flyers will see the biggest jump, a 35% increase.
More Flexibility to Qualify
Here’s where Atmos tries to set itself apart.
Starting in 2026, you can choose how you want to qualify for status:
By miles flown
By dollars spent
By segments flown
This matters. Mileage Plan historically rewarded distance, while Delta and United have gone all-in on spend. Atmos gives members the ability to qualify in the way that matches their travel style.
If you’re a long-haul flyer, miles are still your friend.
If you’re a business traveler with expensive short hops, spend might make more sense.
If you fly lots of short trips, segments give you another path.
It’s rare for a U.S. airline to let members pick the qualification method.
Upgrades: A New Top-Tier Perk
One of the flashiest new benefits is for Titanium members.
Atmos says it will be the only U.S. program to offer:
Complimentary day-of-departure upgrades into global Business Class for Titanium elites and one companion, no points or certificates required.
This perk applies on long-haul Alaska and Hawaiian flights with lie-flat seats.
And there’s more coming in spring 2026:
All Atmos elites (Silver and above) plus one companion will be eligible for complimentary upgrades on Hawaiian Airlines flights within North America.
That’s a big deal for Hawaiian flyers, who have never had access to complimentary upgrades like this before.
What This Means for Travelers
For Alaska flyers:
Atmos looks and feels like Mileage Plan with new branding.
The biggest change is coming in 2026, when elite thresholds climb and flexible earning starts.
For Hawaiian flyers:
This is a massive upgrade. You gain access to oneworld, 30+ partners, and better redemption opportunities worldwide.
Elite members will finally see a real upgrade system, both on long-haul and within North America.
For everyone:
The program consolidates two airlines into one stronger competitor.
It keeps the mileage-based model alive, while also introducing spend and segments in 2026.
Key Takeaways
Balances convert 1:1. No loss in value.
Four elite tiers. Platinum and Titanium thresholds rise in 2026.
Flexible qualification. Choose how you earn starting 2026.
Upgrades expand. Titanium gets long-haul Business Class day-of-departure upgrades; all elites get Hawaiian North America upgrades starting spring 2026.
Biggest winners: Hawaiian flyers. They finally get global alliance access and a serious elite program.
Atmos Rewards doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it does something rare in U.S. loyalty: it combines two programs without devaluing balances. For Alaska flyers, it’s an evolution. For Hawaiian flyers, it’s a revolution.
The real test will come in 2026, when new qualification rules and higher thresholds kick in. Until then, Atmos stands out as one of the more traveler-friendly programs in the U.S. market.
If you are a Chase Sapphire Reserve primary cardholder, Aeroplan is offering you an easy way to save points on your next award flight. For a limited time, you can claim a Flight Reward Certificate worth 5,000 Aeroplan points simply by registering. There is no spending requirement and no need to book right away, but you must act before the deadline.
The registration window is open from August 5, 2025, at 12:01 AM EST through August 18, 2025, at 11:59 PM EST. Once you register, Aeroplan will deposit the certificate into your account within 14 days, and it will be valid for 365 days from the date it is issued.
The Flight Reward Certificate will reduce the base fare in points for a single Aeroplan flight reward ticket by up to 5,000 points. It can be applied to flights on Air Canada or partner airlines, as long as the booking is made directly through Aeroplan’s website, mobile app, or call center.
Key details:
One certificate per Aeroplan account and per Chase Sapphire Reserve account
Only primary cardholders qualify (authorized users are not eligible)
The first and last name on your Aeroplan account must match your Chase Sapphire Reserve account exactly
Certificate cannot be split between travelers or combined with other points-based discount certificates
Taxes, government fees, partner booking fees, and other applicable charges still apply and must be paid separately
If the award ticket costs more than 5,000 points, you simply pay the difference from your Aeroplan balance. If it costs less, there is no residual value to carry over.
Enter your first and last name, Aeroplan number, and the last four digits of your Chase Sapphire Reserve card.
Accept the Terms and Conditions and click “Register now.”
Once in your account, you have a full year to decide when to use the certificate. If you cancel your ticket, the certificate can be re-deposited with its original expiration date as long as your account is in good standing. If any part of the ticket is flown, the certificate is considered fully used.
This is a no-cost way to get more value from your Aeroplan points. Even if you do not know when you will travel, registering now locks in the benefit for the next 12 months. Since Aeroplan partners with many global airlines, you will have options for both short and long-haul flights.
Only primary Chase Sapphire Reservecardholders are eligible for this promotion. The card also allows you to transfer points to Aeroplan at a 1:1 ratio, which can help you boost your balance for future bookings.
Why the Chase Sapphire Reserve Stands Out
Beyond this Aeroplan promotion, the Chase Sapphire Reserve comes with a premium set of travel and lifestyle perks that add value year-round. Chase values the current Sapphire Reserve benefits package at more than $2,700 a year, based on the full range of credits, perks, and rewards available. Cardholders earn high points on travel and dining, enjoy access to the Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club network, and can transfer points to Aeroplan and other partners at a 1:1 ratio.
Notable benefits include:
8x points on Chase Travel purchases and 4x points on flights and hotels booked direct
$300 annual travel credit and $300 annual dining credit
Access to over 1,300 airport lounges worldwide, including Sapphire Lounges and select Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounges when flying Star Alliance
Comprehensive travel protections including primary rental car coverage and trip cancellation
New Points Boost program that can make points worth up to 2x on select flights and hotels booked through Chase Travel
These benefits, combined with its strong earning rates and transfer options, make the Chase Sapphire Reserve a powerful card for travelers who want both premium perks and flexible rewards.
If you are a primary Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholder, this 5,000-point Aeroplan Flight Reward Certificate is an easy win. Registration takes less than a minute, costs nothing, and gives you a full year to put the savings toward your next award flight. Make sure you register before August 18, 2025 so you do not miss out.
We’ve been waiting for this, and it’s finally here. With the launch of Citi’s newest travel card, ThankYou Points are now transferable to American Airlines AAdvantage at a 1:1 ratio.
Until now, AAdvantage was the only one of the big four U.S. airlines without a major points transfer partner. Delta? Transfer from Amex. United and Southwest? Chase. But American had no option, until now. This opens the door to far more flexibility in finding high-value award seats.
AAdvantage has many low cost redemptions starting at 5k miles as of the time of this search. A quick browse through daydream explorer found over 100 nonstop flights priced at that 5k mile mark.
Looking to stretch out?
We’re currently seeing First Class seats to Tokyo for around 80,000 AAdvantage miles, on top-tier carriers like Japan Airlines.
Most recent news regarding transfer partners has been negative. This however is great news for users of PointsYeah who now have even more flexibility to book their next trip. Be sure to update your filters, adjust your strategy, and explore the latest tools (and cards) that can help you take advantage of this change.. Learn more about the featured cards this month.
Flying business class to Europe as a family of four? Most people think that’s a once-in-a-lifetime splurge. But with a little strategy, the right timing, and the right tools, I made it happen for a fraction of the cost.
Here’s the full story of how I saved over $10,000 on our flights and turned a dream family trip into reality.
Step 1: Catching the Points Sale of the Year
In late 2024, Hawaiian Airlines ran a 100% bonus sale on miles. When you know how to use points, deals like this are impossible to pass up. I didn’t hesitate. I bought around 320,000 Hawaiian miles for $4,064.00 because I knew I could put them to work later.
But here’s what made this special.
At the time, there was a workaround that let you transfer Hawaiian Airlines miles to Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan. This was huge. Normally, getting points into Alaska is difficult, but this Hawaiian path opened up access to some of the best award redemptions in the game.
I didn’t know exactly when I would use the miles, but I knew the opportunity was too good to miss.
Step 2: The Search for Four Business Class Seats
Fast forward to February and March 2025. I started searching for four business class tickets from the West Coast to Europe for a late spring or early summer family trip.
Finding four seats in business class on the same flight? That’s not easy. But it’s possible if you know where to look.
I spent weeks searching, checking routes, flipping through dates, and running searches across multiple airlines. I knew I needed a tool that could keep up with me and help me move fast.
That’s why I used PointsYeah’s Daydream Explorer. It’s fast, flexible, and my absolute go-to for finding award flights. You can search across programs and dates in seconds, which saves a ton of time and opens up flights most people miss.
Then I found it.
Four business class seats from Las Vegas to Frankfurt on Condor Airlines for just 70,000 Alaska miles per ticket.
Finding one seat at that rate is pretty rare. Finding four on the same flight? That’s tough, but this is exactly what Daydream Explorer is built for. It helped me spot this deal quickly before it was gone.
I stared at the screen, double-checked the dates, the cabin, the taxes. I refreshed the page. I ran the search again. I triple-checked everything just to be sure.
It was real. And I knew I had to move fast. Deals like this don’t wait around. If you hesitate, they’re gone.
So I booked them immediately.
The trip was locked in.
The Final Numbers:
Total Miles: 280,000 Alaska miles
Cash Paid: $196.80 in taxes and fees
Just out of curiosity, I checked the cash price for those same flights on Google Flights.
$14,080 for 4 people.
I booked them for less than $900 per person. That’s a savings of over $10,000.
That’s not a discount. That’s a major win!
Step 3: Flying in Style
When the day finally came, it all felt surreal. We weren’t crammed in economy. We weren’t worrying about sleep, legroom, or whether our kids would be miserable for ten hours. We were flying in comfort. We were flying in business class.
Boarding Condor’s A330, we settled into wide, spacious seats that fully reclined into beds. The cabin was quiet. The service was smooth. The food was surprisingly good. And when we took off, I had this moment of realizing this is why I chase points. It’s not just about saving money, it’s about creating moments that make travel easier, more enjoyable, and more memorable.
The flight was perfect. We dined, we slept, and we landed in Frankfurt feeling refreshed, rested, and genuinely excited to kick off our European adventure.
When you travel with your family, this matters. Arriving well-rested changes everything. It sets the tone for the entire trip.
And the best part? I didn’t need to spend $14,000 to make it happen.
This is the power of points. This is why I play the game.
How Daydream Explorer Made It Happen
It’s not just fast. It’s not just easy. It’s built to help you find flights most people miss. I could quickly scan wide-open date ranges, mix and match departure cities, and explore hidden opportunities that would have been buried in endless airline searches.
While others are still clicking through airline websites, I’m already booking.
If I wasn’t using Daydream Explorer, I never would have found those four seats. I never would have pulled this off.
Looking back, this whole experience changed how I think about buying points.
Buying Points Can Be a Game-Changer When It Makes Sense
This trip really opened my eyes to what buying points can unlock. It’s not something I do for every trip, but when the right opportunity shows up, it can make a huge difference.
When there’s a big sale, when you’ve done the math, and when you can actually find the seats you want, buying points can be the key to getting incredible value. It can turn flights that seem completely out of reach into something that’s possible.
I didn’t buy points just to have them sitting in my account. I bought them because I had a real plan and a real way to use them.
Buying points isn’t always the answer, but sometimes, it’s exactly what makes trips like this happen.
Important: The Points Game Is Always Changing
When I bought Hawaiian miles last year, the Hawaiian-to-Alaska transfer path was wide open. It was one of the best workarounds in the game. That path has since closed, and it’s a perfect reminder that these windows don’t stay open forever.
Award programs, transfer partners, and sweet spots are constantly shifting. What works today might be gone tomorrow. We’ve seen it happen with Virgin Atlantic’s rising fees, Emirates’ recent Amex transfer devaluation, and other changes across the points landscape.
The key takeaway?
Maximize transfer bonuses and partner sweet spots while you can, but don’t move points speculatively. Wait until you find a real, bookable flight. Programs can devalue, transfer ratios can shift, and award space can vanish overnight.
There will always be new deals, but the industry moves fast. Staying ready, staying flexible, and using the right tools is how you stay ahead.
Final Takeaway: You Can Do This Too
Buying points when the math works out can be one of the smartest moves in points travel. You don’t have to be an expert. You just need to:
Be ready to act when a deal drops.
Use the right tools, like Daydream Explorer, to search smarter and faster.

Another quick note: When transferring Amex points to a U.S. airline (like Delta or JetBlue or Hawaiian Airlines), you’ll be subject to a fee of 0.06 cents per point. For example, you’ll pay $60 for every 100,000 points you transfer. You’ve also got the option to redeem Amex points at a rate of 0.5 cents each to offset the fee.
Again, this doesn’t apply to foreign airlines — only those based in the U.S.

Cautions, caveats, and advice
Take advantage of transfer bonuses
Banks often publish bonuses which can help to stretch the rewards you earn by rewarding you for transferring your flexible points to specific airline partners.
For example, you may find that American Express is offering a 30% bonus when transferring to Virgin Atlantic. This improves the standard 1:1 transfer ratio to 1:1.3. That’s an extra 300 miles for every 1,000 points you transfer.
Transfers are final
When you convert transferable points to an airline, you can’t convert them back. For this reason, we don’t recommend transferring points until you’re ready to book.
Some points take a while to transfer
In most cases, transferable points deposit into your airline account within a day (typically within minutes). But some partners may take longer to process. If you’re uniquely cursed, the award seats you want may have disappeared by the time you get your miles.
It probably won’t happen to you, but it’s something to be aware of.
Pretty simple, Yeah?
Transferring bank points to an airline is simple and takes only a minute or two. The stressful part is trying to figure out how to best use those rewards. PointsYeah eliminates all that mental strain and feeds you the top options in seconds.
Save your brainpower for earning travel rewards. We’ll do the rest.
